BETHLEHEM – JANUARY 27, 2012 – Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation named Jessica Mauro the coordinator of the Lehigh Valley Land Recycling Initiative (LVLRI) effective Feb. 1. She assumes the position vacated by current LVLRI Director Tracy Yenolevich.
Since 1998, LVLRI has focused on improving human health and the environment by promoting the remediation of old industrial properties throughout the Lehigh Valley. LVLRI provides the technical assistance that is often required for a municipality to deal with the environmental concerns on brownfields. LVLRI is funded primarily by Lehigh and Northampton counties and is an initiative of the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation (LVEDC).
Ms. Mauro will support outreach and marketing efforts for brownfield redevelopment and maintain files on contractors available for assessment and remediation projects and report progress on LVLRI initiatives to various committees.
Employed as administrative assistance with LVEDC part-time since June 2011, Ms. Mauro was previously employed with The Sustainable Energy Fund where she served as Education Program Leader and with Lehigh University as coordinator of the Environmental Initiative Program.
“The work LVLRI does is meaningful,” Ms. Mauro noted. “Transforming once forgotten and in some cases desolate properties into economically viable, job-creating entities that also benefit the community by removing the risk of exposure to hazardous materials isn’t just good economic sense, it’s good common sense.”
Ms. Mauro holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the Pennsylvania State University. She resides in Emmaus.
